Feline Acne in Cats

A condition where black comedones (blackheads) form on the cat's chin. Mild cases are cosmetic, but secondary infections can cause swelling and pain.

Causes

  • Abnormal follicular keratinization
  • Plastic food bowls
  • Inadequate grooming
  • Stress

Treatment

  • Antiseptic shampoo cleansing
  • Topical antibiotics

Prognosis

Tends to recur chronically, but symptoms can be controlled with proper management.
