Feline Chronic Gingivostomatitis in Cats(FCGS)

Severe inflammation throughout the oral cavity, causing far more intense pain than typical periodontal disease. Believed to be caused by immune system overreaction.

  • Aggression when mouth is touched

  • Immune system overreaction
  • Calicivirus infection
  • FIV/FeLV infection
  • Abnormal immune response to dental plaque

  • Full mouth extraction (total extraction)

Prognosis

Full mouth extraction improves 60-80% of cats. Some require ongoing medical management.
