Hyperthyroidism in Cats

Excess thyroid hormone production, very common in senior cats. Characterized by weight loss despite good appetite and restlessness.

Causes

  • Benign thyroid tumor (adenomatous hyperplasia)
  • Environmental factors (diet, chemicals)

Treatment

  • Anti-thyroid medication (methimazole)
